Providing Patients with the Most Advanced Care & Technology

Laser dentistry can be used for tooth and soft tissue procedures, and generally, no local anesthesia is needed. This means no numb feeling during your appointment. With laser dentistry, there is no use of heat or vibration, so the procedure is much more comfortable for the patient. When used on soft tissue, there is no incision made, which means no suturing is needed. This allows for much faster healing. Lasers can also be used to help diagnose cavities and find hidden decay in its early stages.

Breastfeeding Support (Tongue tied, lip tied)

Breastfeeding is very important for early oral development. Many infants unfortunately have their feeding ability hindered by tongue or lip tie, which is skin connecting the tongue to the base of the baby’s mouth or lip to the gums. Infants who have trouble nursing because of tongue or lip tie can have trouble gaining weight, are unable to hold a pacifier, have prolonged feeding times, and suffer from colic or acid reflux. Mothers may also experience a variety of issues while attempting to nurse the tongue or lip-tied infant.

At Peoria Dental Care, Dr. Wynn and Dr. Roberts use a minimally invasive procedure to make nursing easier for the infant and mother. Using a laser, our doctors release a tongue or lip tie in only a matter of minutes, and in many cases, only a topical numbing anesthetic is needed for the baby’s comfort. There is little to no bleeding and a very low amount of discomfort, so the baby can breastfeed properly right after the procedure has been completed.
